Paper sculpture
This work deals with the different layers with which we interact with our surroundings. As human beings, we are not just one person. Depending on our company, we tend to behave differently and we can change the way we speak, the way we laugh, the things we say, our body position and sometimes even our writing style, as it is the case of the artist. The four layers of the sculpture are written with different calligraphies, from the most intimate and precious (the one we can barely see), till the most public and neutral (the one that is more shown), all covered by a transparent layer that represents the barrier with what we tend to protect ourselves.
Also, the way the paper is pushed to the wall, shows life and at the same time violence. This material harbours the sentences we can glimpse, revealing a poem that creates a transparent dialogue in between a foreign person and a non-existent local, talking about the necessity of one another. Diversity is treated here as a way of acceptation.
Finally, without being obvious, the spectator can also interact with the piece. It can be easily taken from the wall and put back again. If the spectator decides to take it, then he will be able to see what it is hidden in the most intimate part of the work.
